Healing of a Man on the Sabbath
One Sabbath, p when he went to dine at the house of a ruler of the Pharisees, they were q watching him carefully.
And behold, there was a man before him who had dropsy.
And Jesus responded to r the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, s "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?"
But they remained silent. Then he took him and healed him and sent him away.
And he said to them, t "Which of you, having a son or an ox that has fallen into a well on a Sabbath day, will not immediately pull him out?"
u And they could not reply to these things.

One of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee's house and took his place at the table.
While Jesus was speaking, a Pharisee asked him to dine with him, so he went in and reclined at table.
So they watched him and sent spies, who pretended to be sincere, that they might catch him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the authority and jurisdiction of the governor.
And they watched Jesus, to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him.
But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the purpose of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.)
But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people, "There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.
And a man was there with a withered hand. And they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?" - so that they might accuse him.
Then the Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it?
You shall not see your brother's donkey or his ox fallen down by the way and ignore them. You shall help him to lift them up again.
He said to them, "Which one of you who has a sheep, if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out?
And no one was able to answer him a word, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions.
