Jesus Is Mocked

¹⁶ _t And the soldiers led him away inside _u the palace (that is, _v the governor's headquarters), ₁ and they called together the whole _w battalion. ₂ ¹⁷ And they clothed him in _x a purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him. ¹⁸ And they began to salute him, _y "Hail, King of the Jews!" ¹⁹ And they were striking his head with a reed and _z spitting on him and _a kneeling down in homage to him. ²⁰ And when they had _b mocked him, they stripped him of _x the purple cloak and put his own clothes on him. And they _c led him out to crucify him.
