Church clap 175x92

When Your Church Clap Is Spot On!

By • August 08 2020

There are dozens, even hundreds of verses on praise and worship in the Bible. In fact, according to Godwin Jirah, “In the King James version of the Bible, praise occurs 259 times and worship 188 times.” Click here to see the references for each verse.

I’m reminded of Psalm 150, “Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!”

Every denomination, and even individual churches within that denomination, has a different way of praising and worshipping God during their church services. From the mega-churches who have a full-time band that goes on tours and scores record deals, to traditional, conservative churches who rely mainly on piano or organ music, everyone worships in their own way. Breaking this down even further, each member, each individual soul, expresses their worship in unique ways.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I remember growing up in church, there was an old lady who just couldn’t hold a tune if her life depended on it. Not only was she off-key, but she was loud. She was another thing, too – joyful. She was the happiest, most genuinely joy-filled person I’ve ever met to date. It took me a little while to appreciate that fact, but as an adult, I admire her so much for letting go of insecurities and being brave enough to let her joy shine through – even if others didn’t understand it.

Speaking of enthusiastic worshippers here’s another gentleman who is letting the Spirit lead, so to speak! As you’ll see in the video below, he is very much enjoying the choir, even to the point of dramatically clapping to the rhythm of the song. Go ahead and watch this church-goer praise the Lord! May it inspire you to sing with all the colors of the wind and clap to your heart’s desire.
