To me, this would fall under the heading of discernment, which the Holy Spirit would grant as a spiritual gift to believers, in addition to furnishing the guidance contained in Scripture, which the Holy Spirit inspired in its entirety, and which can serve as a standard with which conflicting information can be compared and exposed.

Use of that discernment, as well as ever-increasing familiarity with the Bible, permits believers to detect or distinguish genuine or true doctrine or findings from information that (even if presented "in sheep's clothing" (Matthew 7:15)), could have the effect (or even the actual intent) of sowing doubt, or of coming between the believer and God.

A timely question in this age of deception as the need is very great within our land and on this little sphere in general. I am in agreement with brother Maas that the key here is discernment which was known in the days of old as common sense. (Haggai 1:5-6; Luke 12:56)

DISCERNMENT: The trait of judging WISELY and OBJECTIVELY / The cognitive condition of someone who UNDERSTANDS. (Luke 8:18)

Having a REAL relationship with the LORD coupled with a firm understanding of HIS WORD will set one on a solid foundation. Thus enabling one to withstand any heretical GOVERNMENTAL spiritual assault or response in league with their lap dog FALSE MEDIA 24/7 juggernaut pushing the latest cause celebre of some impending doom. Also notice a tell tale sign in that all the minions seem to be singing from the same exact heretical hymn book.
(2 Corinthians 11:4; 2 Corinthians 11:14; 2 Corinthians 11:15)

Bottom Line:
Jesus, when asked by His disciples for signs of His coming, the first thing HE said was: "Watch out that you are not deceived." (Luke 21:8) then again "Watch out that no one deceives you." (Matthew 24:4).
One could extrapolate that the calling card sign to this period is deception an instantaneously world wide deception. (2 Corinthians 11:14-15)

A humble opinion, an experiment was conducted to see how far and to what degree once free citizens would forsake COMMON SENSE and willing embrace SERVITUDE. Consider a world killing pandemic that never really lived up to it's billing; has turned an inherently non-catastrophic virus, into a much worse catastrophe. (Galatians 4:16)

When we walk with Christ He slowly exposes what is truth and what is not. For example when I came to Christ I sincerely believed in evolution but several years later the Holy Spirit, in conjunction with my knowledge in molecular biology, revealed that evolution is a lie. This revelation greatly enhanced my faith walk in Christ. God has revealed many other things in my life too numerous to mention except to say they have increased my faith and love in Jesus over the 40 years since my conversion.
