What is the best way to pray for leaders of the Muslim world?

I would like to know how to pray for the leaders of the Muslim world. It seems to me from their actions they are not of the true and living God of the Bible. If I pray for their confusion and destruction internally, is that in line with God's will? But if they fall under the protection of Genesis 12:3, I am out of line.

Genesis 12:3

NKJV - 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

The question is rather vague and it’s difficult to ascertain what leaders you are referring too. According with latest data, there are approximately 1.6 billion Muslim worldwide - most of them are peace-loving, decent people.

It's very possible that many of them do not know yet the truth. Witnessing in these countries to the Muslims population has been very difficult, however, Christ said that He has other sheep who would eventually listen to his voice (John 10:16). We have no reason to believe that Muslims are not included in Christ’s statement.

There is a story in Luke 9 where the disciples asked Jesus to call fire from heaven and destroy a Samaritan village (Luke 9:54) – instead Christ rebuked them – obviously He had others plans for these people (Luke 9:55).

When praying for people would be wise to use Christ advice from Matthew 5:43-48. God is all-knowing and all-powerful – He can read people minds and hearts and discern between the lost and those who still can be saved (Isaiah 42:3). Let God do his work and if there is reason for revenge and wrath, I'm certain He will take care of that (Romans 12:19).
