I studied and taught existential analytic psychotherapy under a noted psychiatrist, and also under a psychologist who studied under Martin Heidegger. It became my rallying cry. It plugged in rather nicely with Fritz Perl's Gestalt Therapy. Existentialism has folks walking around, heads bowed, in a world where there is no future, one's reality is one's own, if you are sad that's normal, if not that's normal..... no God, no Savior, no nothing. We just struggle along in our basket-case identity. We're in this bucket of soup together. The "therapist" makes one aware of all that. Then the client thinks about it. Whoopee. If I have any of my papers or notes tucked away anywhere in my study I will burn them. If you heard me speak in glowing terms about existentialism, erase your memory. Don't repeat it to anyone. Jesus is the answer, THE answer, the ONLY answer for all of us today.
