"Giving no offense in anything, that the ministry be not blamed.." (2Corinthians 6:3). The direct lesson being that; character (conduct) defines a minister and the ministry thereof. Character could either glorify or defame the ministry. 

As our Lord Jesus states, for because we are in this literal world, assessment is made by the nature of the fruit produced (Matt 7:15-16). We go on to preach the gospel by simply looking at how someone conducts themselves. Thus Salvation is confirmed by the confession of someone because this is how we can witness you are Born Again (Romans 10:10). This is further evidenced by how you go on to adjust your conduct in terms of talk, social life etc. If one therefore is Born Again, the old is gone and the new has come (2Cor 5:17). The individual thus can't be treated in isolation with what they do or confess. Salvation and the saved are part of each other.

"But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,”. (2Cor 6:4). Personality should equally portray faith and ministry. Personality will tell whether if what we do we do it for our personal gains or for the Kingdom of our Father. Yet this should never be by the strict follow of a set of moral obligations, but by freely loving God, by freely following Him and His sayings just as He loved us despite having not been able to live up to His standards. 

In a love affair, there is the need that to keep it so, you will equally obey what they say. Mark you, as mortals, more often than not, we love for something, thus our love for each other can be said in terms of what it could be. Yet God's love can't be termed in any way. It is simply love because it is all encompassing and all well intentioned, thus we should never hold second thoughts when He tells us to do whatever. On that account therefore, if we love Him, we should equally obey Him and His sayings (Luke 6:46), (Matt 11:29-30).

We do ministry for three persons; God, ourselves, and the ministry. How we manage ourselves and the affairs of ministry will definitively shape the view held by others of each of the above in the following ways;

God

We engage in ministry by and for God. Recall that we serve God for none else other than for our love for and obedience to Him. If we genuinely intend and love to serve God, it will present in how the fruits which come forth will present. But if we do it for other reasons other than for God, it will present that way. Yet the fact that we are aware that ministry should be done and is for God, our character should equally be shaped accordingly because by such, people will be able to tell the God we serve to the glory of God the Father (Matt 5:16).

The serving person

Ministry begins with the individual and is shaped by what they believe in, and then to others. Thus to be a Christian minister, you must be a Christian. We are commissioned to take God's Kingdom to where it is unknown and to keep it alive and upbeat where it is already witnessed (Matt 28:19), (Romans 10:14-15). Yet to carry this on, we must acquire and possess the heavenly character (Romans 2:21). For as servants of the Kingdom, we ought to appear in the image of our Master. Understandably so, our ministry is equally rewarding (Colossians 3:24), (John 12:26). It is therefore equally important that we do not only serve but do so faithfully. 

Ministry

If a Christian commits a sin, wherever they may be, it will be assessed in reflection of the entire body of the Church of Christ. Yet ministry is a person. Thus Paul urges that we ought to have our character reshaped because it directly reflects on the ministry (Philippians 4:12), (Philippians 3:7-12). We ought to love ministry, enjoy it, and protect it jealously for the one fact that we will account for every bit. Yet this should not only be of the ministers, but of whoever and everybody who is Christian. Allow to lose of yourself and gain in the ministry of God.
