John the Baptist Prepares the Way

⁴ As it is written in _u the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet,
_v "The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
_w 'Prepare the way of the Lord, ₁
make his paths straight.
⁵ _x Every valley shall be filled,
_y and every mountain and hill shall be made low,
_z and the crooked shall become straight,
and the rough places shall become level ways,
⁶ _a and all flesh shall see _b the salvation of God.'"
