John 12:42-43

The Unbelief of the People

42 Nevertheless, v many even of the authorities believed in him, but w for fear of the Pharisees they did not x confess it, so that they would not be x put out of the synagogue; 43 y for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.
