Isaiah 53:3-6

He Was Wounded for Our Transgressions

³ _k He was despised and rejected ₁ by men;
a man of sorrows, ₂ and acquainted with ₃ grief; ₄
and as one from whom men hide their faces ₅
he was despised, and _l we esteemed him not.

⁴ _m Surely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
_n smitten by God, and afflicted.
⁵ _o But he was wounded for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
_p and with his stripes we are healed.
⁶ _q All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned - every one - to his own way;
_r and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
