2 Timothy 1:7
7For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self–discipline.
7For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self–discipline.
We are not to fear because God has given to us power in Him, the Love of Christ and a sound mind.

Abraham's servant devoutly acknowledged God. We have leave to be particular in recommending our affairs to the care of Divine providence. He proposes a sign, not that he intended to proceed no further, if not gratified in it; but it is a prayer that God would provide a good wife for his young master; and that was a good prayer. She should be simple, industrious, humble, cheerful, serviceable, and hospitable. Whatever may be the fashion, common sense, as well as piety, tells us, these are the proper qualifications for a wife and mother; for one who is to be a companion to her husband, the manager of domestic concerns, and trusted to form the minds of children. When the steward came to seek a wife for his master, he did not go to places of amusement and sinful pleasure, and pray that he might meet one there, but to the well of water, expecting to find one there employed aright. He prayed that God would please to make his way in this matter plain and clear before him. Our times are in God's hand; not only events themselves, but the times of them. We must take heed of being over-bold in urging what God should do, lest the event should weaken our faith, rather than strengthen it. But God owned him by making his way clear. Rebekah, in all respects, answered the characters he sought for in the woman that was to be his master's wife. When she came to the well, she went down and filled her pitcher, and came up to go home with it. She did not stand to gaze upon the strange man his camels, but minded her business, and would not have been diverted from it but by an opportunity of doing good. She did not curiously or confidently enter into discourse with him, but answered him modestly. Being satisfied that the Lord had heard his prayer, he gave the damsel some ornaments worn in eastern countries; asking at the same time respecting her kindred. On learning that she was of his master's relations, he bowed down his head and worshiped, blessing God. His words were addressed to the Lord, but being spoken in the hearing of Rebekah, she could perceive who he was, and whence he came.

1 Thessalonians 5:18
18give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
18give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
We are to rejoice in creature-comforts, as if we rejoiced not, and must not expect to live many years, and rejoice in them all; but if we do rejoice in God, we may do that evermore. A truly religious life is a life of constant joy. And we should rejoice more, if we prayed more. Prayer will help forward all lawful business, and every good work. If we pray without ceasing, we shall not want matter for thanksgiving in every thing. We shall see cause to give thanks for sparing and preventing, for common and uncommon, past and present, temporal and spiritual mercies. Not only for prosperous and pleasing, but also for afflicting providences, for chastisements and corrections; for God designs all for our good, though we at present see not how they tend to it. Quench not the Spirit. Christians are said to be baptized with the Holy Ghost and with fire. He worketh as fire, by enlightening, enlivening, and purifying the souls of men. As fire is put out by taking away fuel, and as it is quenched by pouring water, or putting a great deal of earth upon it; so we must be careful not to quench the Holy Spirit, by indulging carnal lusts and affections, minding only earthly things. Believers often hinder their growth in grace, by not giving themselves up to the spiritual affections raised in their hearts by the Holy Spirit. By prophesyings, here understand the preaching of the word, the interpreting and applying the Scriptures. We must not despise preaching, though it is plain, and we are told no more than what we knew before. We must search the Scriptures. And proving all things must be to hold fast that which is good. We should abstain from sin, and whatever looks like sin, leads to it, and borders upon it. He who is not shy of the appearances of sin, who shuns not the occasions of it, and who avoids not the temptations and approaches to it, will not long keep from doing sin.

Revelation 15:5
5After this I looked and in heaven the temple, that is, the tabernacle of the Testimony, was opened.
5After this I looked and in heaven the temple, that is, the tabernacle of the Testimony, was opened.
15:5 The temple of the tabernacle links the powerful imagery of the heavenly temple in 11:19 with the strong parallels in ch. 15 to the Exodus period, when the majestic presence of God was clearly seen in the tabernacle. The tabernacle of the testimony calls attention to the Law or the tablets of testimony given to Moses (Ex. 31:18; 32:15). In the new heaven and new earth the tabernacle of God will be with believers because He will dwell eternally with them (21:3).

Revelation 14:14
The Harvest of the Earth
14I looked, and there before me was a white cloud, and seated on the cloud was one “like a son of man”Daniel 7:13 with a crown of gold on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand. 14-16. God's judgment of the ungodly on earth is now delineated under two figures: the harvest of the earth (vss. 14-16) and the vine of the earth (vss. 17-20). Careful consideration of the scene will reveal that the Great White Throne judgment is not in view here, but rather the judgment of the nations of Matthew 25:31-46, the tribunal at the end of Israel's age referred to in Matthew 13:40. The Judge is the Lord Jesus Christ, as the portrayal indicates (cf. 1:13; 10:1). The designation “a (not “the,” as in the AV, for the Greek text does not have the definite article) son of man” (NASB) identifies Him with the events of Daniel 7:13-14, and all the references to Son of man in the New Testament. The evidence of John 5:22, 27, is weighty. The golden crown speaks of His royal prerogative to judge. The sharp sickle can only remind us of reaping activity. The sickle is mentioned only twelve times in the Bible, and seven occurrences are in this portion of the Revelation
Notice that the angel of verse 15 proceeds from the temple in heaven, another indication that the age is related to Israel, not the church. Apparently, the angel conveys the signal of God the Father to the Son of Man to begin the work of harvesting. No sooner is the will of the Father declared than the Son performs it with obedience and power. The earth was ripe for judgment.

Revelation 14:9

9A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand,
They have no rest day nor night. The third angel has a message of unrelieved judgment. Both verses 9 and 11 designate the objects of the divine visitation to be the worshipers of the beast and his image and the recipients of his mark. The judgment depicted is horrendous indeed. It will be intoxication with the unmitigated wine of the wrath of God, torment in the presence of the holy angels, and … the Lamb, and unceasing restlessness, namely, eternal torment. Those who hold that the unrepentant wicked will be ultimately to bliss (they are known as restitutionists) find no confirmation in verse 11. In fact, the words used in the New Testament for the eternality of God are found here.

Revelation 14:1
Chapter 14
The Lamb and the 144,000
1Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads. 14:4 The virgins are symbolic of spiritual purity (2 Cor. 11:2). Redeemed believers will not compromise with evil. They will reject false doctrine and refuse to worship the beast. In the NT, the firstfruits are the first part of a crop to be gathered, implying a much larger harvest to come later (1 Cor. 16:15). At times, the term emphasizes only the sanctified nature of a sacrifice (James 1:18). Certainly the commitment of the 144,000 to God emphasizes that they are holy ones, set apart to God. However, the continuing offer of the gospel (v. 6) and the harvest imagery (v. 15) also implies that many others will come to faith in Jesus Christ (vv. 12, 13).

Revelation 12:13
13When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.
13When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.
Verses 7-12 explain why the woman had to flee and why Satan is so furious on earth. In short, verse 13 resumes the thread of thought in verse 6. These verses treat of the same time, namely, the Great Tribulation; the 1,260 days are identical with the three and a half years. Throughout the account it is clear that the objective of the hatred of the dragon is the woman, Israel. What he could not accomplish at the birth of Christ, i.e., the extermination of the Saviour, he now seeks to compensate for by the persecution of Israel (vs. 13) and the remnant of her descendants (vs. 17).
But as the Lord undertook for Israel at the incarnation, so He does now. The wings of a great eagle are known for their strength; here they represent God's enablement of the godly in Israel (perhaps the result of the witness of the 144,000 among them also). In Exodus 19:4 God indicated to Israel that He had borne them on eagles' wings and had brought them into the wilderness, from the hostile Egyptians. Here He will grant them eagles' wings to flee from Jerusalem to the wilderness to escape the deadly venom of their archenemy Satan. His past faithfulness is a pledge of His fidelity in the then present hour. She is nourished for a time. Nourishment (same as in vs. 6) will be afforded her in her extremity. Since the eagles' wings are intended to be understood symbolically in Exodus and in this passage, they may refer to friendly persons and nations who will espouse the cause of Israel.
And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood. Satan does not relinquish his evil schemes so easily. In final desperate thrust, he now tries to engulf the godly in Israel as by a flood. Continuing the symbolism, this may refer to Satan's activating hostile nations on earth against the Jews. Again, he will be foiled by the alertness and activities of those who come to Israel's aid. Defeated repeatedly, Satan's rage will be unbounded. His goal now is to annihilate the remnant of her seed who remained in Jerusalem. That they are redeemed ones is manifest from the characterization of them in the last words of the chapter.
