This fruits, along with the descriptions of love in 1 Cor. 13, are tests I use constantly for whether I am following the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In Quaker tradition, we are taught that as all scripture was given by inspiration of God (2 Tim 3:16), we should read it in the same spirit in which it was written. I must ask myself whether I am reading in a spirit of anger and strife, or one of love, joy and peace.
