Chapter 12 Living Sacrifices to God 1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

This verse is an answer to anyone who believes that christians can be apart of the "world" AND apart of God. James 1:8 says, "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways". Revelation 3:16-17 says, "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." The Lord wants us to sacrifice our worldy desires the way he sacrificed his son for us (John 3:16). 2 Corinthians 17-18, says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God...". We give up little to gain the kingdom of God.

God is transforming my life and I love it. He tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Being in His word is so important. It's our guide. The only way he can transform us is for us to allow Him.

The world is fading away, wisdom is what we take with us -- nothing else. Prove ourselves dilegent and make our lives a living sacrifice (His Will be done) that it might be a sweet smelling aroma to the nose of our Father God.

"not be conformed to this world" - a false world system. It is possible to believe in a false and untrue system; in other words to believe a lie!

transformed = (lit. or fig.) "metamorphose" change, transfigure. Metamorphose means to change in form or nature. Obviously that nature would be the nature or likeness of Jesus. We are to be conformed into the image of Christ (Rom. 8:29).

don't be ashamed. Romans 1:16. We're like cookie dough, and the cookie cutters are like the pattern of the world. We have to break free of that mold and let God shape us into what He wants and planned for us as Christians to be, not for what the rest of the world wants us to be. It's the least we can do for all that He has done for us. <><
