Walk in Wisdom 15See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16redeeming the time, because the days are evil.17Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21submitting to one another in the fear of God.

Dissipation: breaking up and scattering by dispersion; profligacy: dissolute indulgence in sensual pleasure; waste: useless or profitless activity; using or expending or consuming thoughtlessly or carelessly; if the effort brings no compensating gain it is a waste; mindless dissipation of natural resources; unusable or lost energy

Believers should not drink wine to get drunk, this leads to excessive abuse, which in turn the one doing the drinking loses, the God Spirit, and is over taken by the wine spirit, which does not know God.

"dissipation" -a downward flow...meaning downward spiral. "Be filled with the Spirit" - It is not a state of high excitement, or of absolute perfection, or a state in which there will be no growth. It is having "my whole nature" yielded to His power. Power over alcohol if necessary!

Are you having trouble overcoming your flesh (the nature of man without the Holy Spirit), addictions & emotional issues? I have a few suggestions that will ensure your victory, from a Scriptural perspective:
1) Believe the Bible as God’s definite, unchanging & inspired word.
2) Don’t look to your own or other men’s reasoning (example: psychology), Proverbs 3:5-8 & 16:2-3.
3) Stay away from temptations by cutting them off & out of your lifestyle because you can, Matthew 5:27-30, Philippians 4:13 & Hebrews 12:1-3.
4) Exercise your body, it gives you a sense of well-being, 1 Timothy 4:8-9.
5) Read out loud & to yourself Scriptures every day, plus any other time you may need to throughout the day when you get weak in the spirit of your mind, 1 Timothy 4:15-16. (A list of suggested Scriptures is below, using the Amplified Bible translation that you can start with.)
6) Be accountable to a spiritual believer that the Lord has in your life (Parent, spouse, Pastor, friend, sibling), Galatians 6:1-9.
7) Put on the garment of Praise for the spirit of heaviness, Isaiah 61:3 (Read my notes in eBible.com on verse 3) & Ephesians 5:17-20.
8) Pray both in the Spirit and in your understanding constantly, 1 Corinthians 14:14-15, 17-18; Ephesians 6:18; 1 Thessalonians 5:14-24; Jude 20-21.
Bible translation: (The Amplified Bible)
Matthew 5:27-30; Romans 8:1-8, 13; Romans 13:13-14; 1 Corinthians 6:18-20; 1 Corinthians 9:25-27; 1 Corinthians 10:6; 2 Corinthians 7:1; 2 Corinthians 10:3-6; Galatians 5:13,16-25; Galatians 6:7-9; Ephesians 4:20-24; Colossians 3:1-10; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8; James 1:19-22; Jude 20-21
