Do Not Love the World

15Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16For everything in the world–the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does–comes not from the Father but from the world.17The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

If we truly love God we will refrain from being a friend to this world. Obey the laws given to us by the officials in charge in this world but do not embrace worldly wisdom against Gods given wisdom.

Loving one another with God's love also means not loving the world, because a person with God's love in them does not love the world or the things in the world.

The system of this world is empowered by the flesh, (sin nature). This is in complete opposition to the ways of God. The Believer is not to pattern his/her life by the world (flesh).
